BAGNO DI ROMAGNA
Emilia-Romagna
A wonderful cute village, only about 45 minutes drive from the Casa Roberta (just take the E45 towards ROMA). In the summertime (June - September) on Tuesdays there is a lovely night market 5-11PM with a special atmosphere - definitely worth a visit. As the name of the village suggests it is also particularly known for its termal baths and hot springs ("terme"). The right place to relax!
BRISIGHELLA
Emilia-Romagna
It is often claimed to be "one of the most beautiful medieval villages of Italy" and indeed the place as well as the way going there is lovely. In the summernight on Friday nights you can visit a night market before enjoying dinner in one of the restaurants.
CESENA & CESENATICO & CERVIA
Emilia-Romagna
Cesena is almost our "homebase" and we always love to go there! Not only for the great market Saturday mornings (and also Wednesdays) but also for the lovely shops, coffee bars & restaurants. If you are anyway in Cesena, why not go to "little Cesena", being Cesenatico. It is a cute little seaside resort with a beach and a famous port-canal designed by Leonardo da Vinci in 1502. From there only 15 minutes north along the coastline you can also include Cervia in your tour. Also this seaside resort is well known and offers sandy beaches, a harbour and a large pine forest.
FAENZA
Emilia-Romagna
Synonym worldwide for ceramics - Faenza is home to the historical manufacture of majolica, glazed pottery, often known as "faience", which is simply the French name for this town. Its ancient tradition dates back to the 12th century. Here ceramic art has combined the new & the antique and lively artistic vibes are to be found in the potters’ workshops, palazzos, urban spaces as well as in the cultural events that take place all year round.
We also love to visit the big market on the main square "Piazza del Popolo" on Saturdays - make sure to also go to smaller square "Piazza Martiri della Libertà" directly connected, as it offers the best shoe selection on the market. Below the arcades you find nice shops, especially a delicious cheese deli for the perfect summer dinner.
IMOLA
Emilia-Romagna
Known all around the world for its racetrack this place is a must-see if you are a petrolhead. You can visit the racetrack, known today as "Autodromo Imola" and afterwards the "Rocca Sforzesca", Imola’s fortress, dating back to the 13th century. The complex, open to the public, hosts a collection of ancient weapons and an exhibition of medieval ceramics. From the top of the fortress you can take in a 360° view of Imola’s territory all the way to the Apennine mountains.
AREZZO & SIENA
Tuscany
If you love antique markets as much as we do, then Arezzo the place to be! The market is well known beyond the borders of Italy, also because it is the oldest in Italy and has about 500 exhibitors. You will love this! It is a monthly market, always the 1st Sunday of the month and the Saturday before (so if e.g. the 1st of June is a Sunday, then the market happens the 31st of May & the 1st of June). Enjoy! And while already there, you might want to visit Siena as well, which is one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany!
